“Winter Grace”- Spirituality and Aging by Kathleen Fischer.

This is a lovely book that ‘draws from the rich tradition of theology, literature and social sciences to create hopeful exploration of spirituality in the later years.’ This book is sensitively written and covers difficult aspects of the aging process like loss & grief & healing of memories. I recommend it as Fischer shows how spirituality, the deepest dimension of all existence can be experienced in later life.
For those of later years I also recommend it & for those younger, who wish to prepare in advance.

Thank you Kathleen Fischer and thank you Lord for putting this book in my path.

Seeking the kingdom by Richard Foster

This is the second book by Foster I have reviewed and I must say ‘ Seeking the KIngdom’ opens the reader to an exciting ,new way to spend with God and with Foster himself. With 30 chapters the reader can learn much about themselves or with their prayer group partners who seek a deeper & richer relationship to prayer. Opening with a scripture reading, Foster gives a reflection on the passage encouraging readers to do likewise.

I found myself opening up and suggest you, as the reader choose to read & reflect on & learn more about yourselves.

Thank you Lord, thank you Richard Foster. I recommend this book for groups & individuals seeking a deeper relationship with our Lord.

God is not a Christian by Desmond Tutu

I was drawn to this book, knowing little of Desmond Tutu, except that he was an Anglican Archbishop awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1984 for his leadership in the Sth African anti- apartheid struggle. The title intrigued me, and between the books covers I discovered a deeply spiritual man who encompassed ALL spiritual truths from Socrates, to Confucius, to the Old Testament, & Yahweh’s Messiah, Hinduism to Buddhism and to Christianity. Bless him, bless Ubuntu (his native tongue), bless tolerance and inclusiveness among all religious leaders. Read on … life is exciting …
